High cholesterol is mostly
identified on routine screening and has no known symptoms. Cholesterol
is more common for those who have a family history of it or improper
lifestyle such as eating a diet high in saturated fat may play a major
role.

Cholesterol has no symptoms; routine screening blood test is the only way to diagnose high cholesterol.
Cholesterol risk factors
If any of the following applies; then may be having high cholesterol lifestyle.
- Regularly eating prepared or fast food.
- Eating cheese and whole milk.
- Have smoke habit.
- Frequently indulge in fatty meats, such as ribs, bacon or porkchops.
- Physically inactive or get little exercise.
- Obese or overweight, means body has stores of more fat and cholesterol.
- Not going for routine check for cholesterol level.
As
per the National Cholesterol Education Program guidelines, indicates
that everyone aged 20 years and older should need their blood
cholesterol level checked at least once every 5 years. It is best to
have a blood test called a lipoprotein profile to find out cholesterol
levels. This blood test is done after a 9 to 12 hour fasting.
