Most of the people with high blood pressure can able to control their blood pressure by simply following life style guidelines to lower blood pressure. If some one’s blood pressure is still not controlled then they can take high blood pressure medication for some time till the pressure reaches normal healthy blood pressure range. Losing some excess weight can help to lowering blood pressure. Losing excess weight not only helps in lower blood pressure and also it has other health benefits too.

Avoid drinking alcohol or cut down in quantity

Too much alcohol can be harmful and it increases the blood pressure as well as increases the chances of developing hypertension complications.

  • Men should not drink more than three units of alcohol in a day. 
  • Women should not drink more than two units of alcohol in a day.

Cutting down in alcohol drinking directly favors to reduce blood pressure and also improves health in various ways. It is expected that cutting down of alcohol can lower a blood pressure by up to 10 mmHg.
