Ayurvedic Voice Diagnosis

Ayurvedic sound diagnosis called sabda paryksa examines voice and other sounds of the body such as breathe intestine and joints to assess health.

This includes the sound, pitch and volume of the voice. The meaning of sabda can be extended to include the other sounds of the body; breath, intestines and joints, which reveal the predominance and quality of any dosha.

Vata has a dry, hoarse and high-pitched or quiet voice. They are fast talker, jumps from topic to topic with erratic rhythm and focus. Vata is very sensitive to excess noise.

Pitta has a loud and sharp voice. Focused, persuasive, dominates conversation, argumentative, challenging and due to their impatience they tend to finish other people’s sentences.

Kapha has a moist, soft, deep and calm voice. A sweet melodious voice is pleasant to listen.
